A typhoon thunderstorm recorded in a backyard of an apartment complex in xinyi district, taipei city, taiwan, in late august, 2022. Rain can be heard falling on grass, the glass roof over the recording area, and various roof materials in the area such as tin, brick, concrete, and clay tile. Occasionally, there is thunder. Recorded on a zoom h1n with a wind filter, at its 96k 24 bit option, mic sensitivity control wheel set to 6 (out of 10). Due to the length of the recording, this is part 2 of 2.

A thunderstorm in munich, recorded 2020-07-01 in my backyard on second floor on a balcony. It rains, the strikes come closer, then they go away, the rain recedes. Some backyard noise, faint traffic and tram. One time you here me sighing (sorry). Some minimal clipping at thunder peaks, sorry again, but i think it's very usable anyway and contains a lot of material. It was raining today and i heard the frogs, decided to record some ambience. So it's just the rain on the street outside my house with the occasional gray tree frog mating call going on too. Zoom h4n - onboard microphones. This recording was captured in the city of orange in orange county, california. This is located just below los angeles and less than a mile from disneyland in anaheim. This is an extremely clean recording of a sudden cloudburst that turned in to a torrential downpour on december 28, 2020. The peaks are all very close to 0db. I opened the sliding glass door to our balcony and placed my zoom h4n as close as possible to the rain without destroying the recorder. What resulted is an amazingly layered rain track. This is because rain can be heard striking multiple surfaces such as a tree, a metal table, the cement balcony, etc. . . There is not much thunder (that's rare in this area) but if you need a few dramatic thunder claps they can be found at the following times one the file is downloaded. Note: that the rain decreases in intensity near the end. 8:09 - 9:37 - 10:31 - 11:20. - christopher.

Distant sirens in the last half of the recording. Some distant traffic noise, and a couple of cars passing close. I didn't notice until afterwards that i had the recorder set in mp3 format. Chldren were playing in the neighbour when a low lightning activity thunderstorm came to pécel and lasted for 1-2 hours. It produced 10 mm of moderate rain and bright intracloud lightning. Recorded by my sony stereo dictaphone. The storm arrival had a little disaster movie impression for me.

This is the raw recording straight from my zoom h5. Levels were kept low to minimize the chance of clipping. A few thunder sounds were still too loud, but luckily the h5 has a backup function that recorded an identical track 12 db quieter. I've uploaded that as well, so you can splice the two together to taste. Eventually i'll release a processed version with the two combined, plus compression and eq, but i wanted to upload the source material in case you'd prefer to diy it.

The recording starts with gentle rain and slow thunder rolling across the sky. The thunder is predominantly in the first half of the recording. The rain increases in intensity in the second half, peaking about three-quarters of the way through. Recorded on a sheltered, outdoor stairway, in a suburban location in south-eastern england, in august 2013; using a zoom h2n recorder set on mid-side stereo, at a 120 degree spread. The original recording was heavily edited, to remove traffic, trains, planes and parakeets(!). Some light, occasional, background traffic noise remains, however.

Rain & distant thunder around 8pm in warren, michigan (suburb of detroit). Recorded on a zoom h1n. Some faint traffic sounds & a bit of white noise coming from an air-conditioner unit. Zoom h1n was placed in my porch light compartment about 2 feet below our rain gutter. Most of the original hour long recording was ruined due to wind gust, but i edited it down to the only continuous 11 minutes without the gust of wind.
